Richmond Theatre's autumn to winter season has been announced.

The new season will include big-name performers Siân Phillips, Wendi Peters, Martin Shaw, Gok Wan, Jemma Redgrave and panto-favourite Christopher Biggins.

Dame Siân Phillips stars alongside Derek Griffiths in the 30th anniversary production of Driving Miss Daisy (11 to 16 September) while in a nod to current affairs across the pond, Martin Shaw appears in Gore Vidal's play The Best Man (2 to 7 October) about two presidential candidates, one ethical and one a "bigot and a charlatan", both vying for the endorsement of the present incumbent in 1960s America.

On a lighter note, Christopher Biggins will play Widow Twanky in the theatre's Christmas panto, Aladdin (9 December to 14 January) and Wonderland stars Wendi Peters alongside Dave Willetts and Rachael Wooding (7 to 12 August). Gok Wan's show about his life story, Gok Wan - Naked & Baring All runs for one night on 13 November.

Jemma Redgrave and Oliver Cotton star in Tom Kempinski's Duet for One (23 to 28 October).

The season also features The Wipers Times following a West End run (26 to 30 December) by Ian Hislop, about a satirical newspaper created in the mud and mayhem of the Somme and David Walliams' Awful Auntie (2 to 5 November).

Family shows also include The Gruffalo (18 to 20 August) and The Railway Children (29 August to 3 September).

Further December shows include The BalletBoyz - 14 Days (1 and 2 December), Sing-a-Long-a Frozen and Sing-a-Long-a Sound of Music (both on 26 November).
