Images have been released offering a first look at April De Angelis' stage adaptation of Elena Ferrante's novel, My Brilliant Friend.

The two-part play directed by Melly Still opens at the Rose Theatre Kingston this weekend and stars Niamh Cusack and Catherine McCormack.

Based on Ferrante's Neapolitan quartet of novels (My Brilliant Friend, The Story of a New Name, Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay, The Story of the Lost Child), Cusack and McCormack play Lenu and Lila, two friends in post-war Italy.

The cast also includes Justin Avoth, Adam Burton, Martin Hyder, Victoria Moseley, Emily Mytton, Ira Mandela Siobhan, Jonah Russell, Badria Timimi, Toby Wharton and Emily Wachter.

My Brilliant Friend runs at the Rose Theatre Kingston from 11 March to 2 April.
